The Langara Faculty Association (LFA) is writing in support of Dale Askey and McMaster University and strongly urges Edwin Mellen Press to immediately drop its libel lawsuits. The lawsuits present an outrageous attack on academic freedom and the exercise of free speech.
Incumbent President, Lynn Carter has been acclaimed as the Langara Faculty Association Board President for the term of one year.
Elections for LFA Board positions continue in a staggered fashion. Call for nominations for the position of Vice-President will be March 18 - 22.
The call for election of Board members will be April 8 - 12th.
The vote on the ratification of our new collective agreement was concluded Tuesday night, and faculty voted overwhelmingly to ratify it.
A tentative deal was reached at VCC by their support staff, CUPE Local 4627.
The tentative contract is for a 4-year, no-concessions deal, with a total of a 4% increase spread over the final two years of the agreement. This local has been in bargaining for 15 months, with four months of rotating strike action.
